From Outdated to Outstanding: A 1970’s Colonial Design Transformation in Bedford, NH
Tour this stunning transformation of a 1970’s New England colonial nestled in the heart of Bedford, NH. This charming farmhouse had so much potential and with a little help, has been transformed into a beautiful home that is full of eclectic details and charm. Home Edit was thrilled to collaborate with True East Remodeling to help our clients achieve the space of their dreams.
A Kitchen Transformed from Dysfunctional to Delightful
This homes outdated kitchen was crying for a remodel. Minimal natural light and tight work zones made this kitchen uninviting. However, with a touch of creativity and a vision for transformation, this once uninspiring kitchen was destined to become the heart of the home—a space where functionality meets beauty and where culinary delights are prepared and shared in an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness.
By eliminating the dividing wall that once separated the kitchen from the dining room, a galley kitchen was created that now exudes openness and invites seamless connectivity. The removal of this barrier has not only expanded the physical space but has also transformed the entire ambiance of the area. Natural light now cascades freely through the combined space, creating an airy and welcoming atmosphere that beckons family and guests to gather, converse, and savor the joys of shared moments. The once confined kitchen has been reborn into an open and inviting culinary haven, where the pleasures of cooking and dining unite in perfect harmony.
New Windows Surrounded by Beautiful Waterjet Marble Tile Let in New Light and Create a Stunning View to the Backyard
The installation of new windows has revolutionized the kitchen, allowing natural light to flood the space and illuminate every corner. Paired with water jet marble tiles, the area around the sink now gleams with elegance, providing a stunning focal point while reflecting and amplifying the brightness streaming in from outside. This infusion of light and luxury transforms the kitchen into a captivating environment, where daily tasks are elevated into delightful experiences amidst a setting of timeless beauty.
Custom Hood Cover and Full Height Backsplash
The stainless steel touches throughout the space, mixed with the warm finishes, truly elevate the overall aesthetic. The stove area is finished with a beautiful full height quartz backsplash and custom hood adding a touch of elegance and cleanability.
Adjacent the stove sits a custom buffet with. We wanted to pull in the marble tile from around the window area to create more cohesion in the space and really add that “wow” factor. On top of this addition are stunning cabinets with textured glass doors and interior lighting to display the clients beautiful collection of glassware.
A Powder Room Worth Discussing
The transformation of the powder room is truly captivating. The addition of custom wainscot paneling brings an elegant and timeless charm to the space, while the William Morris wallpaper adds a touch of sophistication and style. The combination of these elements creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, turning the once outdated space into a beautiful and welcoming retreat for guests.
Peak Into the Scullery From the Foyer
The scullery, this reemerging feature brings a touch of tradition and elegance to this home. Offering a space that seamlessly combines utilitarian purpose with aesthetic appeal. By integrating full-height stone below the row of cabinetry at the entrance we’ve created a beautiful and appealing layer of visual design and function. The scullery becomes a focal point that not only enhances the home’s functionality but also adds a luxurious and sophisticated element to the overall design.
No Detail Unnoticed, The Stairwell also Received an Upgrade
Stairways are often a design detail that my clients struggle with the most. This home deserved a stairwell that had a touch of something “special”. We incorporated delicately twisted cast iron balusters that complement the artistic touches throughout the space and a timeless craftsman style post to elevate the entry way.
Custom Built-Ins with a Unique Twist
Custom built-ins with our William Morris wallpaper backings flank the living room window, adding a perfect nook for reading and storing collections. This thoughtful addition not only maximizes the use of space but also infuses the room with a sense of character and personality.
Final Touches to Pull It All Together
Finally to pull it all together, we repainted the existing sunroom and retiled the floors with a stunning subtle checkered floor tile, complementing the sophisticated design style throughout the home. A full color drenching of the sunroom creates a bright and inviting space off of the kitchen and dining room.
